Growing up, despite not having much, my mother would go above and beyond to ensure my sisters and I had special birthday parties every year. I watched as many of my friends would have the most elaborate events, at different venues that I knew we could not afford at the time. In spite of my initial feelings of envy, I was always so proud of my mother and still am until this day. I would watch as she put her beautiful mind and creativity into the most simple things, to transform them into something beautiful and meaningful. Down to the smallest detail, she ensured our parties were a hit from beginning to end, and did it all on a small budget.
As time went on, I learned something surprising: My friends were the ones who had wished their birthdays like mine! They noticed the personal touches my mom would put into everything, that money could not buy. All of this helped me realize that it wasn't necessarily about who spent more, but what mattered most was the personal touches and smaller creative details that made our parties truly magical.
I began helping her with the planning process more and more each year and together we would start by coming up with a theme, an invitation design, a guest list, the food, and then we would begin hand-making the décor. and everything else we needed to make it a fun, cohesive and memorable event. I can remember going to the library and making photocopies of the invitation so we could bring them home to color and decorate each one by hand. Although the times and processes sure have changed since "the good ol days", l learned so much during that time, much of which I still use constantly for our clients today.
As soon as I was old enough to work, I took jobs that provided me with learning a different skill set and knowledge base, that I am also now able to put to use with our clients every day, along with planning events for companies we still work closely with. One of those companies I hold dear to my heart was Experience Auto Group-a family of automotive dealerships housing some of the most expensive and sought after cars in the world- Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Porsche. Working with some of the most powerful brands in the world enabled me to grow the corporate event end of my business, but with my own creative twist on everything we do.
I credit my mother, and the events we created on our own, for igniting my passion for event planning and design. l truly believe that it's one of the most incredible industries there is, both fun and challenging while simultaneously heartwarming and exhilarating. The best part for me, Is the moment that it all comes to life, and I get to watch the reaction of my clients. Never did I think that I would be able to live out my desire to make other people's dreams come true thru the magic of event planning & design. But here I am, 10 years later, and I could not be more grateful to have so many others put their trust in me to assist them in bringing their visions to life.
